Action-packed Community Day for those with disabilities and their families at Crann Centre, Ballincollig
Cork, 29 August 2018: Supporting those affected by Spina bifida, hydrocephalus and neuromuscular conditions, Crann Centre is hosting a community day on Sunday, 9 September 2018. All are welcome to attend the free, action-packed day, which will be hosted at Crann’s new state of the art centre in Classis, Ballincollig.
The Kingdom Wheelblasters, the Rebel Wheelers, UCC, Ballincollig Scouts, Wildwork and Tyndall National Institute are just some of the organisations that will be participating in the Crann Community Day. There will be exhibits, performances and discussions around health and wellbeing, employment, early childhood, education and community involvement. This will include creative expression and the arts in social wellbeing, play therapy, biodiversity, self employment and assistive technology as well as peer mentoring for higher education pathways. There is something for every age and every ability at the Crann community day, which runs from 11am until 3pm on Sunday 9 September.
“Opening our doors to the community in Cork is vitally important for the Crann Centre here in Ballincollig,” said James Thornberry, CEO of Crann. “We have developed an incredible centre for people of every age with disabilities, and their families, and we are keen for the community to understand and see how we work together to improve the health, wellbeing and lifestyle of those who are engaged with us”.
The Crann Community Day is open to all to come and see the facilities, meet the people and experience the ethos of the centre. Residents in the area, school goers and families are all welcome to attend this free event, which promises plenty of entertainment, fun and community engagement.
The Crann Centre was established in Cork in 2016, and is supported by philanthropic funding and the American Fund for Charities. Crann is an inclusive partnership project that provides care and services focused on strengthening all members of the family, as well as individual needs for those affected by disability in the Cork region.
