Townhouse Interiors is a one–stop shop for beautiful and unique interiors, soft furnishings and expert advice on style and design practicality. Café Townhouse is a relaxing and welcoming casual dining venue, whose team is eager to tease your taste buds with their wholesome food. Together these businesses make a powerhouse like no other in North Cork.
And so, it is of no surprise to anyone that these businesses received the title of The North Cork Business of the Year 2018 at our very own The Rémy Martin Cork Business Awards 2018!
“It’s almost impossible to find the right words,” said Myra Ryall. “Winning this award is a fabulous endorsement of the constant hard work that I, Ray and our team are delighted to do on a daily basis, in both our café and interior design business. Like swans, we are calm and collected but bustling like crazy under the water!”
Townhouse Interiors is no doubt one of the busiest curtains and soft furnishing manufacturing businesses in Ireland, now having to operate by appointment only. “We love producing the best for both domestic and commercial projects. We are delighted to have our own designers, makers and fitters working exclusively for Townhouse Interiors.
“The same applies to our café, designed by us and having all our produce sourced locally and made in-house by our chefs and patisserie.” Everything used for interiors of the café and everything served at the café has been sourced within five miles of the businesses.
And what a beautiful café it is too! Their hand-chosen and stunning Victorian era glass display case is the perfect location for their new crystal award to take residence.
“We really enjoyed telling our friends and family and opening up a bottle of champagne! Over the last 12 months we have gathered a team in both businesses that are world-class and I am delighted to say we have had media from all over the world call to our unique café and interiors business and they have promoted us from USA to India, all thanks to Munster Vales and Fáilte Ireland.”
What pushed Townhouse Interiors and Café townhouse over the award-winner’s line was why they work so hard at what they do. Everything they do is for the promotion of the larger Munster area, locally, nationally and internationally.
“Ray O’Callaghan, my husband, dresses as a historical character for guided tours of Doneraile. The local drama society celebrates many of the characters that have passed through our doors in years gone by, like William Makepeace Thackeray, writer of Vanity Fair, and Lord Castletown, who once lived at Doneraile Court, and all the costumes are made by me.” The area also boasts stunning Victorian style gardens, capability Browne and French Court Style Gardens “that can be found just yards away from our café that is situated in the village.”
These are just some of the “fun and frolics that make Café Townhouse stand out uniquely”.
“We get a lot of pleasure back from our customers and regular friends, who so often fill the rooms with laughter and chatter. Special occasions are made even more special with our tailor-made events, beautiful china and cakes. And with the interiors side of things, it is wonderful to see a second–generation customer calling on me to decorate their homes, as they loved the houses they grew up in. Townhouse Interiors cater for contemporary style to traditional style decor.
“We have a few new ideas in the pipeline on what’s next at Townhouse but our priorities are keeping what our friends and customers have come to enjoy and love about us intact. We are only what our customers make us.
“It goes without saying that my husband Ray and I are a team but he is a major key. And, of course, kitchen staff, maintenance, cleaning staff all those involved behind the scenes, seldom seen but without them nothing works. The locals that support and welcome every visitor to the town and to the Doneraile Tidy Towns for keeping the place looking so well. The Doneraile Development for promoting the village. The Doneraile Drama Society for dressing up regularly to entertain at events we hold at our café.
“To Munster Vales and Fáilte Ireland for bringing up to 30 familiarity trips to Doneraile in 2017 and 2018 and more to come in 2019. Thank you all!
“And, of course, Michael Mulcahy and his fab team that made this happen. You are superstars!”
