A night of music is set to take place on Leeside to show solidarity with the people of Palestine. People are invited to come to Crawford & Co. & Aye on Anglesea St on Saturday, August 24th for PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC FOR PALESTINE.
The event is being organised by Departures in an effort to raise Funds For UNICEF’s Emergency Gaza Appeal. A number of DJs are generously giving their time free of charge to play a set with all proceeds from the night going to UNICEF’s Gaza Emergency Appeal.
The impressive music line-up includes Stevie G, Colm Motherway, Jim Comet, Keith Synnott, Gossy, Colm K, Ed Callanan, Brian Mills and Paul Kav with special guests featuring on the night.
A barbecue will also be held on the night at the front of the venue. The evening will get underway from 4 pm onwards.
Event organiser Ian Morrissey says, “We want to bring the people of Cork together on one night to raise awareness of the situation in Gaza and show our support for the Palestinian people. By fundraising on the night, we will help bring much-needed funds to UNICEF who are working tirelessly in the area. We want to maximise the fundraising effort beyond ticket sales for the night. We are encouraging people to donate directly to UNICEF’s Gaza Emergency Appeal www.unicef.ie/support-us/
fundraise.”
“It’s set to be a great night. I’m very thankful to the DJs who so very kindly offered to give up their free time and lend support to the event. Also to Michael Droney of Crawford & Co for hosting the event. We look forward to raising as much as we can and no doubt the DJs will keep the crowd entertained into the early hours.”
UNICEF remains on the ground, working with partners to provide supplies and support for children and families in Gaza. According to the organisation, conflict pushes a child into starvation every 60 seconds.
Tickets for the event cost €20 and are available on Eventbrite on the following link: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/
