Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Colm Kelleher launches an artwork in textiles by Anne Kiely and Carmel Creaner called ‘Plus ca change: the woven history of Douglas’ in the newly re-opened and refurbished Douglas Library.
Made over a seven-month period, this work is a response to stories collected from the community of Douglas based on the history of the Douglas Mills. The artists also organised a series of craft workshops with residents of both Marymount and St Lukes nursing homes, and with pupils from St Columbas Girls school in Douglas. The project was commissioned by Cork City Libraries under the Per Cent for Art scheme as part of the re-opening of the Douglas Library in 2020.
