IGNITE part of University College Cork (UCC) Innovation today announced four innovative IGNITE start-ups are currently recruiting with over 25 job roles available in sales, marketing, business development, software and customer service.
The four starts-ups, Trustap, Ecanvasser, LegitFit and Peckish, have all emerged from the IGNITE start-up incubation programme at UCC.
Trustap has developed a secure escrow-style payment app that protects against payment fraud in peer to peer transactions.
UCC BE (Civil, Structural and Environmental Eng) graduate Conor Lyden established Trustap in 2016 following his own disappointing experience buying second-hand football tickets online. The idea was developed when Conor enrolled for elective module, Entrepreneurial Business Start-ups, led by Dr Gillian Barrett at Cork University Business School.
Trustap has raised over half a million euro in funding to date and is raising further funding to grow the team and scale internationally. The company is recruiting for roles in product development, software development, business development and marketing.
Ecanvasser is a software platform that supports campaign management for political, community outreach and advocacy organisations.
The company was founded by Brendan Finucane in 2013 and evolved from Brendan’s final year project completed as part of his BSc (Business Information Systems) supervised by Prof Dave Sammon at Cork University Business School.
Ecanvasser was a finalist for Cork Chamber Emerging Company of the Year Award in 2017 and is currently recruiting for marketing and software development professionals.
LegitFit has developed management software for gyms and personal trainers.
The company was founded by three friends: Ryan O’Neill, an MSc in Management and Marketing graduate from University College Cork who is now the Chief Executive Officer; Ian O’Sullivan, a BSc Recreation & Leisure graduate from Munster Technological University (formerly Cork Institute of Technology), Chief Commercial Officer; and Gearoid Collins, Chief Technology Officer.
LegitFit was a finalist in the Cork Chamber Emerging Company of the Year Awards in 2021 and is currently working with the TechStars Sports Accelerator in Indianapolis, USA.
The company has secured €750k in investment to date and is currently hiring in areas of marketing, software and sales.
Peckish is a menu management & marketing platform that allows users to easily search & order dishes based on their preferences & dietary requirements. The company was founded by Paul O’Shea, a BSc (Computer Science) graduate from University College Cork in 2019.
Peckish was awarded Best Business Idea in the Cork Region of the Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur competition and was recently a finalist in the Ireland Funds Best Business Plan competition.
The company are recruiting to fill software and sales roles.
Working with a start-up offers an exciting career alternative to working with a large, established company. Employees can gain broad experience across a range of areas and have the opportunity to directly influence the success of the business. Many early stage companies offer employee share option schemes whereby employees earn shares in the company. And working in a start-up is a great way for aspiring start-up founders to learn the ropes before launching their own start-up.
IGNITE is a start-up incubation programme at University College Cork. The programme has supported over 150 recent graduate founders since 2011 and is open to recent graduates from any third level institution in Ireland who have the passion and ambition to work full-time on a scalable start-up idea with potential for economic, environmental or social impact.
