Christmas has come early for Sarah Fitzgerald (13) from Kinsale, Co. Cork! She is thrilled to be chosen as one of the Toy Testers on the famous Late Late Toyshow 2017 this coming Friday; the most watched Irish television show, which is a dream come true for her…
Sarah is the daughter of Cormac Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald & Partners, who said it’s “an exciting week in my house!”
She is reading lots of great books, which she will share next Friday night on the show, given her love of books and reading. She is a second year student at Kinsale Community School.
Sarah has written children’s books for Ronald McDonald House at Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children; she raised over €2,500 at the time for the house at aged seven and has also penned book reviews and has been chosen to review books on this year’s Late Late Toy Show.
She is also partaking in the BT Young Scientist Exhibition, which takes place in January on a subject very close to her heart – young people and reading.
The title of her project is A Statistical Investigation into the decline of reading among Ireland’s Youth and how we can prevent this from impacting future generations – A topic which is raising a lot of interest among some renowned children’s book authors, who have been in contact with Sarah to offer their kind help and who feel that it is an important topic for our children to be aware of.
She is looking for some help from young people to complete her surveys as part of her research and would be delighted to hear from any children who have an interest in books and reading.
