Enterprising Cork hairstylist launches new haircare brand
KiwiSalt, a pure Irish Sea Salt Spray, is the first in a new range of consumer haircare products created by the award-winning celebrity hair stylist and entrepreneur, Ciarán O’Sullivan.
A professional hair stylist and barber in Cork, O’Sullivan used the pandemic lockdown of 2021 to refine and develop his plans for a uniquely Irish haircare offering, characterised by original high-end formulations.
Working with a cosmetic chemist, the enterprising stylist achieved his goal to deliver a salon-quality luxury consumer hair product that is affordable and delivers results.
Sea salt spray creates a beachy textured effect in hair, and KiwiSalt uses natural Achill Island Sea Salt, which is organically hand harvested in small batches, using a slow evaporation process. This preserves its high mineral content, vitamins and amino acids, which are naturally therapeutic and support stronger hair. Combined with the exfoliating effect of sea salt, the new Irish-developed spray contributes to a healthier scalp and hair that is easier to manage.
Kiwi extract is another certified organic ingredient in KiwiSalt, which, thanks to its AHA-base (alpha-hydroxy acid), improves the appearance of hair and maintains hold for longer, even in humid conditions.
The result is a quick and effective haircare boost, with a light brush-able hold and a fresh uplifting Kiwi fragrance. Shaking before use activates the spray, which is then spritzed through wet or dry hair. For best results, users are advised to diffuse dry hair on a medium heat, at medium speed, finishing with a cold air blast.

Ciarán O’Sullivan, who is better known by his nickname, Kiwi, says KiwiSalt is the first in a collection of haircare and skincare products to be developed, based on his personal experience of clients’ needs.
“I wanted an authentic Irish product, with organically sourced ingredients, that is also a professional-grade haircare treatment. A good quality personal-grooming product means busy clients can achieve their salon look in the weeks in-between salon visits, and then they don’t need to visit the barbershop as frequently.”
Kiwi’s new product range will comprise both hair styling products and skincare products, aimed at the male and female markets. Featuring Irish ingredients, and expert formulations, the range packaging is similarly high-end in UV glass bottle with gold lettering.
The spray bottle is eco-friendly, made from natural raw materials, and is 100% recyclable with refills also to be available. The unique bio-photonic glass preserves the essence and efficacy of KiwiSalt, giving it a longer bathroom shelf-life.

From Glengarriff, West Cork, Ciarán O’Sullivan began his career in hairdressing and barbering at the youthful age of 16.
