Voxpro team members will transform one acre of unused land into a commercial growing space for their charity partner, Field of Dreams.
On Saturday, May 18, 2019, Voxpro – powered by TELUS International will hold its first ever Irish TELUS Days of Giving event in Cork. TELUS International provides multilingual customer service outsourcing and digital IT services to global clients. This volunteer event, in partnership with Down Syndrome Cork, will see more than 350 Voxpro – powered by TELUS International employees volunteering their time to transform Field of Dreams, a training hub for young adults with Down Syndrome, into a commercial growing space – all in just one day.
Currently, 95% of all adults with Down Syndrome in Ireland are unemployed, with supports and services for the community becoming less accessible from the time they turn 18 years old. Field of Dreams, which opened in September 2017, offers a two-year Life and Work Skills Programme, where participants have the opportunity to work closely with tutors to develop horticultural, catering, hospitality and administrative skills. The objective of the programme is to enable members of the Down Syndrome community to develop practical skill-sets which will give them greater access to rewarding employment, in the longer-term.

However, of the three-acre site at Field of Dreams, only two acres are actually in active use — massively limiting the potential reach of the programme. The mission of the TELUS Days of Giving event is to develop this last acre into a commercial growing and training space, expanding Field of Dreams’ teaching capabilities and increasing the number of young adults who can participate in the programme – all in just one day.
The Field of Dream is located on Clash Road, Curaheen and the event will take place from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, May 18.
