APPOINTMENT TO THE CORK BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD

Business Cork is the dedicated and leading business news site for the 45,000 businesses in all parts of Cork city and county and has operated successfully for over 33 years. The Cork Business Advisory Board is being established to give a direct voice to the business community of Cork with a seat at the Board for business people so that the voice of the community can be heard by all stakeholders for the region.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

It is a great honour for me to be asked to take on the role of Chairman of the Cork Business Advisory Board and lead the initiative across Cork city and county. I am delighted to hear about the innovative and futuristic strategy that Business Cork has for promoting our region and advancing the views of the business community that need to be heard. The Cork Business Advisory Board will seek to formulate policy and ideas so that the stakeholders of the region can listen to them and act upon them.  As a business owner and former politician, it has always been one of my ambitions to see a clear strategy for every part of Cork city and county that is led by a business focused entity as every area is different, has different priorities and should be looked at differently depending on its needs and natural assets. I believe with the innovative strategy that the Cork Business Advisory Board is adopting for its model by working with business people who know and reflect the exact position of employers, the exact position of employees and the things that are supporting or impeding growth and development in Cork, will be hugely beneficial for Cork and everyone that lives, works and enjoys our region.

I am delighted to see that the eight business associations in Cork that Business Cork supports will also be represented on the Cork Business Advisory Board. Little Island Business Association, Cork Docklands Business Association, Ringaskiddy Business Association, North Cork Business Association, East Cork Business Association, West Cork Business Association, Cork Northside Business Association and Cork Southside Business Association as part of the brand Cork’s Business Channel is an important element of connectivity with all businesses in these areas.

I look forward to chairing this great initiative, working with a group of business people who want to see Cork grow and thrive and I look forward to playing my part in the delivery of it’s agenda.

John Minihan
Chairman

A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

In bringing together a number of key business people who all want to see more co-operation happening locally and more business being done with their fellow businesses, the idea to establish the Cork Business Advisory Board was born. It is clear that a model that harnesses the talents and interests of a group of like minded business people who want to see the very best for Cork, its people and its businesses is an important model to initiate.

While Business Cork has operated for more than 33 years, our message is the very same as it was when we started out in 1989. We have always been positive and proactive in promoting Cork and its businesses and our philosophy has always been about ‘keeping Cork growing’.

I am delighted that Cork’s Business Channel with its eight business associations is part of this initiative and also that the tried and trusted model of Business Cork still benefits all parts of our great city and county. I look forward to leading the initiative of the Cork Business Advisory Board as CEO and ensuring that we support and promote every village, town and suburb of Cork and maximising our combined resources and talents so as to continue to achieve the full potential of Cork for the benefit of every business and citizen.
