Murphy’s Pharmacy in Midleton is a family-run and independent pharmacy, whose ethos is professional but personable customer service.
The health care professionals opened their doors to the people of Midleton in April of 2005, when married duo John and Deirdre Murphy, both pharmacists, decided to follow their dream and open their own place of business. Jane Fleming joined in 2009, a pharmacist too, and continues to work as Supervising Pharmacist and Shop Manager.
“All the staff you see today have been there from almost the very beginning. Yes, we’ve expanded and have had to add to our team but the majority of our staff members have been there 10 years or more – we’re like family at this stage!” said Jane.
“Our aim is to bring a new aspect to your traditional pharmacy and customer service, while always retaining that personal touch that is so important to us. I think that in the era we are in, with smartphones and modern technology, it is even more important to be that familiar face for your customers, and it gives me great pleasure to say that we can greet most of them by their first name. And that is something I will never want to change. Our customers are the most important part of Murphy’s.”

Murphy’s Pharmacy have built upon the Murphy’s of Midleton brand because they are so much more than a pharmacy. This business is also a nursery store and a makeup bar! “We offer a wide range of cosmetics from various Irish and UK bloggers and well-known names, such as Crownbrush, LUNA by Lisa Jordan, SOSU by Suzanne Jackson, Lord and Berry, Madison Makeup, Estee Lauder, Sleek MakeUp, e.l.f. and a fabulous new natural, vegan skincare range, Urban Veda.”
The nursery, which boasts a rather comprehensive range of items, is called Tiny Toes Nursery Store, “which caters for all your mother and baby needs, from car seats and buggies to the smaller items.”
Most recently, the team have been focused on expanding their cosmetic offerings, working toward offering their customers, new and loyal, the best pharmacy shopping experience they can. “We now have six professional makeup artists working with us in our new dedicated area in the pharmacy, or Beauty Bar, as we like to call it, where we are now offering a brand new service, makeup applications at Murphy’s.” You can now pop in or book an appointment to get your makeup done for any occasion – wedding, christening, event, “or simply just a night out with the girls”.
The expansion plans don’t stop there! “Our next goal is to have a presence online. In the very near future, we will offer you a professional website, where you can shop for all our products online, book your makeup appointments, or buy tickets to any more makeup masterclasses being held in-store, like the one we recently hosted with Lisa Jordan.”
The pharmacy is undergoing such expansive growth at the moment, it’s getting a whole new look to accommodate their ever-growing list of products and services. “We have enlisted the expertise of Chapter, a design and branding company based in Cork City. With Deirdre Corcoran and her team, I believe we have found a bunch of professionals as passionate and innovative as we are and together, our goal is to deliver an elegant and professional pharmacy that truly stands out from the crowd.
