On Tuesday night, September 25th Cork based Brook Foods won the Site Contract Caterer of the Year Award at the annual Gold Medal Awards held in Lyrath Estate. The company also won the award in 2017 having beaten off competition from major players in the Irish foodservice industry on both occasions.
The award specifically recognises the company’s Eat-Smart healthy foodservice programme at biopharmaceutical company, Regeneron in Limerick. The Eat-Smart programme is a mobile app-based programme which uses technology to help employees make smarter choices about what they eat. The food quality and menu offer in the employee restaurant has been further enhanced by the Eat-Smart cashless, nutrition and loyalty programmes. The platform allows employees load cash onto their building access cards to pay for food, as well as log and track their nutritional intake. The next step for the Eat-Smart platform will involve heat-mapping the restaurant at peak times. Doing so will allow employees to check how busy the restaurant is from their desks, prompting them to adjust their break times accordingly.
Commenting on the award, Kieran Callinan MD Brook Foods said “Obviously this is an amazing result for our team at Regeneron but this award is also a recognition of the amazing support we get from ours clients in Regeneron. It’s a pleasure to work with a progressive, open minded organisation which believes in delivering the best possible food offer to its employees. To win it last year was fantastic but to win it again this year is amazing. It’s particularly satisfying since we are an Irish company competing against massive multi-national food businesses. Our promise to our clients is to ‘feed their people happy’ and this award is testament to the fact that we are delivering on that commitment. ”
