Bibi Baskin: Three Quick Life Lessons
In the busy-ness of life nowadays we sometimes need quick reminders of how we can re-direct our thinking for a happier life. Quick because for many people, employers and employees alike, life is too hectic to do a great deal of private study. Reminders because we all have created bad habits in our thinking which hold us back.
Here are three things that don’t help us on the path to Wellness. There are plenty more I’m sure but if we could just abandon these three for starters. Needless to say, they’re all negative.
I CAN’T DO THAT
Have you tried it? Did you fail? Or has someone else just told you that you Cant Do That. You have to stop feeding yourself this negative information. And you have to stop listening to people who keep reinforcing it. There will never be a right time to do anything. You may be saying to yourself just now I cant start a business because it’s too risky. Business is ALWAYS risky. I can’t go on Tinder and get a date until I lose weight. Only a small minority of people stick to a diet and can keep the weight off. If you keep postponing living life to its fullest, you will end up with a long list of regrets later on when you are no longer physically able to pull them off. So tell yourself I CAN DO THAT. And give it a go.
I DON’T HAVE THE TIME
One day you won’t because our time on this planet will be over. But in the meantime, which really means NOW, create the time. You can do this in one simple way. The most obvious one is to get up a half hour earlier. That gives you an aggregate of 3 and a half hours extra in the week, or 14 hours in a month. That will at least get you started. After 6 months of this new discipline you would have 84 hrs gained, 10 full working days for your new project. If that doesn’t kick-start it then perhaps nothing will. And after all, what’s 6 months out of a lifetime?
IT’S ON MY BUCKET LIST
Ah! My least favourite concept in the world. A Bucket list. So you’ll do it before you kick the bucket. Before you die. I can never understand why people have a list of things they want to do before this particular deadline. DEADline indeed. For the obvious reason that nobody on earth knows when they are going to die. So where’s the sense in imposing a deadline based on no factual information? I’d say it’s almost insane. So start it now. And tick the things off steadily and methodically. And if you can’t because you don’t have the time, go back and read this article again.
So go on. Give it a go!
