The event takes place in The River Lee Hotel on April 10.
Marketing moguls and Cork business people will have the chance to hear from not one, but two experts at the next Marketing Institute of Ireland Cork (MII Cork) event, which takes place on Wednesday April 10 at 6.00pm, and is kindly sponsored by The River Lee. Mark Henry, Director of Central Marketing at Tourism Ireland, and Seamus Heaney of Pure Cork will take the hot seat as they present Tourism Ireland and Pure Cork’s key marketing strategies to grow visitor numbers.
The World Economic Forum rates Ireland as the third best country in the world at tourism marketing and branding. In 2018, we welcomed 11.2million visitors to Ireland and in this next MII Cork presentation, Mark and Seamus will share their knowledge and expertise on how they work to promote their brands, bringing visitors to Ireland, and in particular to Cork.
PureCork.ie is the official tourism website for Cork, and Seamus Heaney will give an insightful talk on the brand development strategies for the platform. As a former hotelier, Seamus has over 30 years’ experience in the tourism industry and was part of the group that successfully formed The Cork Convention Bureau in 2007. During his presentation, he will outline the primary marketing tactics planned to increase visitors to the Cork area by positioning Cork as a destination of unrivalled choice and value with endless attractive venues, restaurants and tourist hot-spots. Seamus, a proud Corkonian himself, originally from Mallow, has travelled all corners of the country with his work over the years but now resides with his family in Bandon, West Cork.
Tourism Ireland is the public body that markets Ireland overseas and at this April MII Cork event, Mark Henry, Director of Central Marketing, will outline the new and innovative marketing approaches that have made Ireland so successful. He will showcase some recent successful campaigns linked with Star Wars, Game of Thrones and the Global Greening. Mark’s experience covers a wide range of areas such as strategy development, research, brand, marketing communications, content generation, digital platforms, customer engagement and partnerships. He will highlight Tourism Ireland’s leadership in digital marketing and the investments that it is making in marketing technology to continue to grow its competitive advantage into the 2020s.
Speaking ahead of the April MII Cork event, Mark Henry, Director of Central Marketing, Tourism Ireland commented:
“Irish tourism grew to record heights last year and Cork is perfectly placed to benefit from this, both as a destination in its own right and as a gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East. I am really looking forward to sharing some of the secrets of Tourism Ireland’s success in helping to drive this growth and discussing how we can continue to grow business to the city and county in the years ahead.”
