IP Telecom are happy to announce that they will be sponsoring the iWish Executive Breakfast in the RDS next week.
The core objectives of iWish are to encourage participation of young women in STEM, to influence STEM branding and to provide role models to young women interested in STEM.
IP Telecom CEO Shena Brien has been in the technology industry since graduating in Electronic Engineering from Carlow IT. At that time there was no focus on STEM and even less focus on women working in that area – only five women graduated from the class.
Shena feels strongly about the need to encourage all young women getting ready to make their career choices to consider the world of STEM, and said: “There are so many opportunities for them to reach senior level in a wide variety of fields and I personally feel that industry needs the talents of these amazing women in order to build strong and truly diverse workplaces.”
Shena is no stranger to the challenges women face in STEM, which is why she’s so passionate about facilitating at the Executive Breakfast.
There are over 5,000 students registered to attend from all over the country, and registration is open to all female transition year students throughout Ireland.
