I am gravely concerned at a fresh planning application to Cork County Council for a Waste Transfer and Recycling Facility from Country Clean Recycling.
The proposed site for this facility at Courtstown Industrial Estate on Little Island is, in my opinion, wholly unsuitable, as the area is already zoned for future residential development. I’m also unhappy with the level of public consultation by Country Clean with the local community.
I also have a concern as to whether the Carrigrennan Waste Water Treatment Plant has capacity for such a development, and whether it’s permissible under its licence provided by the Environmental Protection Agency.
I would request that any decision regarding this development would be delayed until after The Little Island Traffic and Transportation Study has been completed.
I’m inviting all concerned to attend a public meeting at 7pm on Monday December 5 in Little Island Community Centre.
