Estelle makes every effort to ensure that she and her team remain true to the Irish Door Systems brand of continual improvement and innovation, while always encouraging the team to further develop their skills.
“My biggest drive is to always be happy and endeavor to make others around me happy also. This applies to both my professional and personal life. I want to be the best that I can possibly be in every element of my life and maintain a good balance between all my roles.
“I work extremely hard to ensure I maintain this equilibrium; to be a good mother and role model for my four children, a decisive Director for the business, a fair leader and mentor, a reliable friend etc.”
Estelle is also driven to bring about change. “I am passionate to stimulate altering how we do things and advocate room to re-think and re-shape how things are accomplished.” She thrives on these challenges, setting goals for her company and realising them. “It’s a wonderful and addictive feeling!”
And this passion in Estelle is not only visible but contagious. As a naturally positive and energetic person with a good outlook on life, she has the ability to engage with people quite easily. “I believe these attributes are important when trying to motivate your team.”
As a leader, Estelle always has her eyes on the bigger picture; the long-term goals and opportunities that lie ahead. “I am honest and work hard to gain people’s trust, which I believe is paramount to motivate, inspire and develop a winning team. I truly enjoy helping people in achieving their full potential by believing in their abilities and mentoring them to develop further. I encourage people within a team to collaborate with others also to ensure everyone’s aim is to help and motivate each other.”
Estelle has been influenced by many people and events to become the successful business leader she is today. “The road to success is normally not an easy one – you need to work exceptionally hard, remain continuously focused and make many sacrifices. The one thing I have learnt over the years is always to remain true to yourself, be honest and have integrity for yourself and those around you.”
Clearly Estelle is an exceptionally organised person, leaving her with more energy and time to be the boss she strives to be on a daily basis. She likes to see continuous progress and tasks being completed. So much so that she frequently gets up in the middle of the night to make a dent in her to-do lists!
“I have to do lists for everything; what needs to be completed for the business, for the team, my children, all the various elements that I need to work through. I lead a pretty busy life and sometimes it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day, hence I do frequently get up at night to tick a few items off my lists, as I operate best when things are in order.”
And an energetic leader such as Estelle has no problem adapting to an ever-changing business landscape. The marketing strategies for Irish Door Systems in particular are something she’s had to make significant changes to.
“In the past, marketing was labourious and costly. It was mainly achieved by means of posting paper literature and brochures to clients. Now, our approach is radically different. Target markets are continuously changing, as are the demands of the consumers; they want information fast. We now reach our clients via various social media platforms, YouTube, digital marketing campaigns and we continually update our website with news and case studies of completed projects. Marketing strategies are currently based mainly on the visual impact as opposed to reading a large quantity of text.”

Tell us the most interesting thing about you that we couldn’t learn from your resume.
Firstly, I must point out that I am not a big fan of resumes. I much prefer to get to know the person, as opposed to the piece of paper. For that reason, people who do know me would probably say I have a very competitive streak and I would willingly agree!
What’s the most inspiring book you’ve ever read?
Co-Dependent No More. I read this as a teenager and when I closed the final page of the book I realised it is all up to me! I was in complete control of my decision making and destiny. It was the best lesson I ever learned and I haven’t looked back since.
If you couldn’t do what you do now for a living, what would you do?
I would most definitely still be in business and working for myself. I have a huge passion for horticulture and gardening. I enjoy growing my own produce in my greenhouse and then cooking up delicious meals with the ingredients – that’s is one of my greatest pleasures! My family are continuously telling me to open up a boutique café, selling my homemade healthy treats and an abundance of fresh cut flowers – it might just happen yet!
