A marble bust of Cork’s former martyr Lord Mayor, Terence McSwiney, sculpted by renowned Irish sculptor Albert Power and a Cork Republican Silver loving cup were presented to Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Mick Finn in City Hall. The War of Independence artefacts will go on display in Cork Public Museum at Fitzgerald’s Park. The Terence McSwiney bust was donated by the family of Cork’s first female Lord Mayor, Jane Dowdall. Only 60-80 pieces of Cork Republican Silver are known to exist so it is highly prized. Its purchase was enabled by Creative Ireland funding.
